THE ORGANIZATION

Located in St. Paul, the Minnesota Credit Union Network is a statewide organization that serves and supports the needs and interests of credit unions throughout Minnesota. The Network, working in conjunction with the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), provides exceptional products and services, ensuring that Minnesota credit unions have access to the best financial options for their members.

MnCUN works on behalf of Minnesota’s 152 credit unions and more than 1.5 million credit union members. Activities include:

  • Political advocacy, including lobbying
  • assisting in credit union development
  • providing regulatory compliance support
  • coordinating educational opportunities for credit union staff and volunteers
  • maintaining media relationships
  • matching credit unions with product and service providers
  • administering the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation
  • participating in charitable fundraising
  • supporting international credit union development

THE POSITION

The Vice President-Network Service Corporation is responsible for generating and expanding non-dues revenue for the Minnesota Credit Union Network. The position provides direct management of the Network Service Corporation, Minnesota Item Processing Corporation (MnIPC), and Minnesota Credit Union Services Corporation.

Additional Vice President responsibilities include leading, guiding, and coaching the staff of 10; plus to provide the highest quality of member service. He or she will directly supervise the staff of Network Services Corporation including: Business Development, Minnesota Item Processing Corporation and the Minnesota Credit Union Services Corporation.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage the Network Service Corporation including product development, marketing and sales, endorsement relationships, and investments. Endorsement relationships include but are not limited to CUNA Mutual, Invest in America, and the Vendor Involvement Program.
  • Provide senior management over the Director of Business Development including strategic planning, board development, supervisory committee training, product sales and support, field of membership expansions, mergers, financial analysis, and operational challenges and, in cooperation with the Legal Department, policy and procedure administration.
  • Serve as senior manager of the Minnesota Credit Union Services Corporation (shared branching) including the preparation of board reports, financial analyses and budgets, board relations, product sales and marketing, client start-ups, ongoing customer service, client training, and supervise the preparation of financial statements.
  • Serve as senior manager the Minnesota Item Processing Corporation including the management of personnel, preparation of board reports, financial analyses, budgets and pricing, product development, and board relations. Supervise product sales and marketing, client start-ups, ongoing customer service, client training, and the preparation of financial statements.
  • Assist the president as necessary in the preparation of reports and analyses and when requested, interface with the board of directors.
  • Represent the Network and affiliated companies at Network events including Annual Meeting, Fall Conference, and Chapter meetings.
  • Review, analyze and evaluate the overall progress and results against plans and budgets to ensure soundness of the operation through the application of appropriate business principles.


QUALIFICATIONS

The fully qualified candidate will possess five years of successful leadership/senior management in a financial services/credit union or trade association setting; previous credit union operation experience is highly preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management or Certified League Executive designation, is required.

The individual selected should possess an understanding and knowledge of accounting, budgeting, shared branching and check processing. A marketing and sales aptitude is necessary.

The incumbent must possess solid interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) to a diverse audience including staff, directors, affiliates, vendors and clients. The candidate must be analytical, computer and technologically aware, and possess the ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive attitude. There will be travel throughout Minnesota and nationally as required.

Must be goal oriented, professional and persuasive in sales situations and vendor negotiations.

COMPENSATION

The MnCUN will provide a competitive and attractive compensation package comprised of a base salary, bonus and participation in a comprehensive benefits program.
